Representatives of Sino-Metals Leach Zambia Ltd. (SMLZ), a Zambia-based holding subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. On April 23, Sino-Metals Leach Zambia Ltd. (SMLZ), a Zambia-based holding subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC), officially handed over a new school building?it funded and built?to Minsenga Secondary School in Mwambashi?ward, Kalulushi?town,?Kalulushi district, Copperbelt Province, Zambia.

A?grand handover ceremony was held to mark?the?milestone project in government-enterprise collaboration in education.

The event was attended by government officials including Kelly Jibinga, Kalulushi District Commissioner; Daudi Simama, Mayor of Kalulushi town; Bbole Malambo, Secretary of the Kalulushi District Education Board; Andrew Mfune, Principal?of Minsenga Secondary School; and Bertha Mulenga, Mwambashi?Ward Councilor of the Kalulushi Municipal Council.

It also brought together community leaders, representatives of teachers?and?students, as well as representatives from media outlets,?such as Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation and the Daily Mail.

In their remarks, many?government officials expressed their appreciation for SMLZ's social responsibility initiatives.

Upholding its development philosophy of "deeply rooted in local?communities, giving back to society,"?SMLZ?has been actively responding to the concerns?of the Kalulushi Municipal Council and local education authorities?regarding education and paid close?attention to the basic conditions for local teenagers to receive school education, according to SMLZ.

Launched in October 2024, the new school building has?a total floor area?of 634 square meters and includes four classrooms and one teachers'?office.

With an investment of 2.95 million Zambian kwacha (approximately $90,000), the facility can accommodate up to 200 students.

Over the past two decades of operations in Zambia, SMLZ has always been considered an active social responsibility practitioner.

It has supported the development of education, science, health, and culture in local communities through various initiatives, including?renovating facilities for?Chambishi Secondary School, donating school supplies to Minsenga Secondary School, and constructing classrooms for Chishilano Primary School.

Closely bonded with local communities by their shared concern for education, the company is determined to continue to contribute to?local education?development?and build a community with a shared future for SMLZ and local communities, thus jointly creating a new chapter of sustainable development, according to SMLZ.
